Arsenal 4-1 Reading : 6 things we Learned

Arsenal 's comprehensive Premier League victory over  Reading  means they have kept up the pace in their pursuit of both Tottenham and  Chelsea . With the Manchester sides seemingly certain to finish in the top two, the three London clubs are all competing for the two remaining Champions League places. The math does not work cleanly—one club will miss out. If Arsenal play as they did against Reading for the remainder of the season, they stand a very good chance of edging their way back in to the top four. This was a promising performance with impressive contributions from some surprise sources. Gervinho’s Confidence Is Restored Jamie McDonald/Getty Images Arsenal fans are used to seeing Gervinho causing chaos.  However, all too often that chaos has been detrimental to Arsenal's game. Gervinho's erratic running patterns and unpredictable decision-making can make him look like something of a headless chicken. In this game, however, he was at his devasta

Arsenal vs Reading : Match Preview

At last, the interminable international break is almost over, and  Arsenal  can get back to playing football again (and I don't mean  the ladies' side , though we do love them). This weekend the Gunners will take on  Reading  in what is sure to be an open and goal-filled fixture. Both sides are known for their porous defenses, and we were treated to an absolutely insane 7-5 thriller during the Capital One Cup earlier in the season. With Arsenal scrapping for every last point in their push for a top-four finish and Reading doing likewise in their bid to remain in the Premier League next season, both teams have massive incentives to go for all three points. Here are four battles to keep your eye on as the game approaches. Theo Walcott vs. Himself vs. Olivier Giroud Jan Kruger/Getty Images After  being released  from England's World Cup Qualifying squad last week, it is not certain whether Theo Walcott will actually be able to play for Arsenal this weeke

Blunder by University and still careless

I am the last year Student of Khwopa Engineering College, affiliated to PurbanchalUniversity, Biratnagar. I got "I" grade in Design of steel and timber structure. 'I' refers to Incomplete(Not Qualified) or Absent in exam.  And i don't have neither of them. It's a huge blunder by University. I have already submitted a application to my College Principal after the day I got this result. And today its gonna be almost 2 weeks that i submitted that application. Still no progress at all. Exam section head said, exam paper misplaced at first, later exam paper lost, now he says they found it and will publish my result till this tuesday.  Its like their tomorrow never gonna come. And another bad news is student with "I" grade can't attend chance exam, have to wait for back exam and this will force me to lost my whole single year. Its not a joke. Not a single fault of me, still i'm suffering this undeserved pressure. I w

Bayern Munich Vs Arsenal Preview : It's not mission impossible

Bayern Munich v Arsenal: influential midfielder Jack Wilshere out of Champions League tie with ankle injury Arsenal’s slim hopes of overturning a 3-1 deficit in their Champions League last-16 tie against Bayern Munich have suffered a significant setback, with midfielder Jack Wilshere ruled out of the game with an ankle injury. Wilshere, Arsène Wenger’s most influential player, sustained the injury against Tottenham in the north London derby nine days ago and has been recuperating in Dubai. He was still in the Emirate yesterday and, with Arsenal training at London Colney this morning before flying to Munich, he is not expected to make the trip to Germany. Arsenal said last night that Wilshere had been in Dubai resting following the Spurs game and played down the seriousness of the injury. Wenger will give an update on Wilshere’s progress this morning but there must now be a question mark over whether he will be available for Saturday’s league gam

Steve Bould and the Arsenal Defense: Has Anything Changed at All?

Has Steve  Bould  failed at his role as the defense expert at  Arsenal ?   The defensive errors that have cost Arsenal big games this season have led some to question  Bould ’s impact, the person whose arrival was expected to transform Arsenal’s defensive fortunes.   Part of the problem with Arsenal’s defending stems from the team’s tactical imbalance, an imbalance resulting from at least two factors.   I examine this in the following.   Later on, I examine the issue of Arsenal’s high line, an issue analyzed earlier in the week by  Gary Neville , who focused on the errors that occurred at the Arsenal-Spur match over the weekend.   I begin by looking at the tactical system that Arsenal use, the problems this system poses and the attempt to eliminate them by the coaching staff.   Stu Forster/Getty Images The Big Hole   I traced the epic collapse of the Dutch national team at the Euros last year to imbalance in their application of the 4-2-3-1 formation.
