Why Arsenal are King of North London ?

Arsenal take on Tottenham this weekend in arguably the biggest north London derby in years, with Champions League football and the all-important bragging rights both up grabs. Spurs come into the game with the advantage, being in excellent form and third in the league, while the beleaguered Gunners are in 5th and have had a difficult few weeks. But who is the real king of North London?  Danny Griffiths makes a case for Tottenham , but here’s Jamie Sanderson on why Arsenal are the only team in town: Manager Arsene Wenger is feeling the pressure after failing to deliver a trophy in the last eight years, but he is still loved, wanted and admired by some of the biggest clubs in the world. Wenger’s stock may be down, but he’s definitely not out. He has a proven track record of winning, and nothing brings out the best in him like a good battle with Spurs in the derby. Andre Villas-Boas has had a good season, but is a mere minnow compared to The Professor. Star Man All the...

Future News: Arsenal announce plan to donate all profits to charity just to shut everyone up

After revealing  a £17.8 million pre-tax profit for the six months to the end of November 2012  and a cash reserve of £123 million,  Arsenal  announced that they will donate all of the club's profits to a London children's charity. "Everyone keeps telling us to spend, spend, spend," manager Arsene Wenger told reporters. "Well, now we will. But instead of spending it on overpriced and overpaid footballers in the pursuit of ultimately worthless trophies, we are putting the money to good use and giving it all to a local children's charity. So there you go. You can't complain about us not buying top players now because you'll look like an awful person if you do. Suck on that for a while." "Would watching grown men win a pot make you feel better than allowing a needy child to eat or sleep in a warm bed at night?" asked Wenger. "Would it? Nothing to say now, huh? No clever joke about empty trophy cabinets to tell in a Facebook ...

Cazorla rescues Arsenal

Santi   Cazorla  scored twice to help Arsenal survive a gamely challenge from a desperate Aston Villa side as the Gunners earned a 2-1 victory. The Gunners came out flying. Jack  Wilshere  had a terrific chance to put them on the board first, but was turned away by Brad  Guzan . Moments later, in the sixth minute, Cazorla  did find the net with a seeing-eye strike through traffic in the box. At that point, it looked like it Arsenal was going to run away with the match. Give credit to Villa, however, as they regained their composure and started putting on some pressure of their own. Charles  N'Zogbia  had a golden opportunity just inside a half hour.  Wojciech   Szczesny  was up to the task. Arsenal increased the level of pressure once again in the dying minutes of the opening half. Olivier  Giroud  and  Wilshere  both had chances to make it 2-0, but weren't able to produce the final touch they needed t...

Arsenal vs Aston Villa: Match preview

I think that it’s fair to say that it’s been a pretty testing week for Arsene Wenger. Out of the FA Cup and pretty much out of the Champions League within a few days, and we cannot afford to fall further behind in the league. A win against Aston Villa is vital to lift the team spirit before 3 tough games against Spurs, Everton & Bayern Munich. Being at home is not exactly a big advantage for Arsenal at the moment. We were at the Emirates against Blackburn in the FA Cup & against Bayern on Tuesday. The home crowd really need to get behind the team on Saturday & hope that we come out all guns blazing. No more slow first halves. No more booing. Christian Benteke, who has scored 6 goals in his last 5 games, is definitely one to watch. However, the fact remains that Villa are in 17th in the league and should be beaten without too much trouble. Here’s hoping. Team news: Arsenal Bacary Sagna has been ruled out with a knee injury, but  Carl Jenkinson returns fr...

No Leader At Arsenal - A Big Concern

Since the departure of ex-captain Patrick Vieira in 2005, Arsenal's hunt continues to find a replacement for a man of that caliber. During this period, several players have worn the Arsenal armband, yet none have had the necessary impact on the pitch and the wait for silverware continues. In the past, manager Arsene Wenger has said “Arsenal has several captains on the pitch”, but the void created by Vieira's departure is yet to be filled. Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger has always stood by his beliefs of his squad being good. When examined closely these claims are true. The three summer signings have all had outstanding performances, yet the overall outcome and table shows otherwise. On several occasions this season, the team has failed to appear as a unit. One of the main constituents of this is lack of a leader, an authoritative figure on the pitch who can communicate with the players and can pull up, motivate and preach the right attitude required to win a football gam...
